Maxspect LED owners!!!

Hi. I just ordered the Maxspect 230 SEMI for my new tank. 110x60x55 cm, 360L. Though that should be enough. But now i'm getting second taughts. Can this ramp really lit a reeftank that big??

The 110cm length might be a little too much. You're probably going to have some shaded areas on the sides. The G2-230 is very powerful, but I'm not sure if the light spread will be what you're looking for. If you go with a minimalist style aquascape, where the fish have plenty of swimming room and lots of room for corals to grow, you should be alright. But, if you plan on having your tank heavily stocked with rock and corals, you probably will have a tough time getting enough light (PAR) to the outside edges of the tank. You might be better off with 2 G2-160's.

thanks for the advise, how easy would it be to replace the LEDs and would I need to order the maxpect LEDs Cree bulbs trough Fins reef?

I would like to maybe get at least a 1 to 1 ratio of white vs royal blue..

The LED's are very easy to replace. I have a paralyzed left arm, and I had no problem replacing the LED's. I'm sure you don't have to use the MaxSpect Cree LED's, but you will have to have decent soldering and electronic abilities. I bought 3 blue MaxSpect Cree LED's to replace 3 of the white Semi's. I just wanted them so that I have a slightly better range of color spectrum, and to add a little more of a blue look to the light when all LED's are on.

Just got a reply from Brian, looks like he was out and is trying to catch up. Sounds like my unit G2 100 will ship early next week.

Nice...I bought AI's but Maxspect looks like they are giving great results....Nice to see LED's kicking butt all over the place. I keep beating my head against the wall on other threads where these brain surgeons keep insisting the LED data is no good, not proven, not sustainable and not ready for prime time....LOL......Its getting boring. THANKS FOR THE PICS!!!!!

I agree. I remember people saying the same thing about T5's, while I already had some up and running and saw the results first hand. It makes me laugh that there are hundreds and hundreds of people with documented proof of growth and people still want to argue that they don't.

Hi, Started reading the Maxspect Thread yesterday, and just completed it. WOW lots of info! I'm looking into a DYI set up to customize how I want. My question is there any other good Threads on LEDs without a lot of bashing. Have my mind made up, just looking for good input. Good luck all. and Thanks.

Here is a look of the overall 500 gallon 4 side view SPS side is 3x160 maxspect stock color semie led honeycomb lens and reflector. LPS side is 3x 110 semi LED stock color no reflector no lense. Left side there is no light cause I try to do this section non photonsintes coral. Right side is now a marinland LED reef ready it is a softy section but I plan to remove it cause color is way to yellow for my taste. I am bad photographer but it give an id

will G2-60W be enough for 18" * 18" * 18" SPS and LPS tank?
How about 90 degree lens?
Does G2 has the moolights?

thanks.

bud there seems to have a lot of green algae , is it due to the new lighting ?

i am considering either the MaxSpect G2-110 LED Aquarium Lighting or the AI Sol unit for my 45 cube. i see a lot of people enjoying these units and have gone thru most of the 64pages in this thread.

am i able to say from what i have read that these units are well worth the $$$ ? and is one Maxspect g2-110 along with 4 24inch T5's enough to handle all my lps/softies/mushrooms and clams in my 24x24x19 cube?

thanks!

thanks!

i am leaning more towards this gs2-110 over the ai sol blue... little bit $$$ and people seem to be pretty happy with there units

when i read online that they come with a controller, does that mean they are dimable ?

sorry could be a stupid question but just wanting to make sure i cover it all before i spend the $450 on one

no not dimable, but each group of leds have a seperate timer.

I am on the same boat here, I got my g2-110 extreme for my 50g cube,
now I want to build another tank 18" X 18" X 18", I am thinking if the G2-60W
will be enough for this tank and mostly are LPS and sofies, maybe a little bit
of SPS on the top.

These pics look great.

What would you recommend for my tank? It's a mix of LPS and SPS, with the SPS in the top half.

The dimensions are 60" long, 36" Wide, and 30" Deep - so it's basically a DD 280

And what about the Extreme's vs G2?
