Maxspect G2-400-160

Hi
Just received the G2-400-160 and need some advice on the best lighting schedule to use. I have searched the forum but could not find.

Thanks in advance

I have a 34G Solana and was planning on purchasing the G2-160W since my tank is around 24" deep.

Can someone offer any input on my choice? Should I go smaller or stick with this choice?

Just installed one on my tank around the same size and it works a treat.

I have set my times as below, any advice if this is ok.

Blues 10am to 10pm
Whites 1pm to 7pm
Main Whites 2.30pm to 6.30 pm

Regards

The main whites are 30W, I was only using T8's before for 9 hours a day.

Those suckers are powerful, I would just watch your coral closely to make sure that they are not getting too much light. I had to bump mine all the way down to 30w only 30 min a day, and very slowly try to increase it if you want.

Hi

Would a g2-110 work on a 34x14x24high penisula tank. I'll be keeping softes, lps and rbta. TIA

diggin' the skin on the avatar, so I will answer this question because of that. Even though this has been stated before mutliple times

The 110w and 160w unit are good enough for a 2'x2'x2' area of water. If your tank is 36" you are going to see a lack of light, not total darkness, but shade around the ends. Not a bad thing though as you can still put some of the lowest light coral there. You may or may not like the lack of light on the ends.

Hi all i just ordered my maxspect 160s and was wondering what height i should mount it above my 54 corner? and should i add a couple of t5s to get full coverage in the tank? and have people had any problems with bleaching out there corals from these lights?

I was rally interested in a MAxspect for a 12 gallon nano but From what i understand is that you cannot control the white and blues independent. Is that true.

Im looking for one for my Elos mini and the only downside with the maxpect is that there is no independent control on the colors

That might be true on the small 60watt unit, I don't know, but on every other unit you can control the white's, blue, and 30watt whites.

You can control the schedules for the blue, white, and 30w... And you can control the colors by changing out the various leds to get the combonation you want (G2-160).

I figured as much. I know I can control all that on my 160, but wasn't positive about the 60.

you can not control the blues and whites independent on the 60w version. I have 2 160w on the 120g and you can control those settings, yest. I went up to Fin's and got one of the little ones for my frag tank and you can only program it on and off, not the different lights. Still works well for the frag tank, and I get pleanty of coverage for me and it's a 20L, lol, a bit dark on the edges but my low light zoas love it.

The only downside for me was the mounting system. It is quite narrow and the generic tank from petsmart has those black rims on them. The mounting for the 60w does not go over that rim, so I had to take a knife and trim that off in that spot.

Sorry, I wasn't sure about the 60watt unit. That's unfortunate that you can't control the white and blues individually on the 60 watt unit.

no worries, just wanted to make sure that was clear to the one with the question. Yeah, it's really not a bad deal though and has been a pretty solid unit. The controls don't bother me as it's only a frag tank, not much of a display. I could see it being an issue with someone who wants it on a nano though.
