Maxspect LED owners!!!

i have a 60g 2x2x2 ft cube tank with sps lps mix. Is the 160 the better bet or would the 110 be plenty? and whats the difference between the extreme fixtures? just optics and glossy black finish?

The 160 extreme has 4 15watt LED's instead of 2 30watt LED's. I think you should get the 160 Extreme. I have a regular 160 and think the 160 extreme would be perfect for your tank. I love the idea of the 4 15watt LED's. I like the 30watt LED's, but the are very intense, and like the idea of the better light spread/coverage from the 4 15watts. You might want different optics than the 60* ones, but whatever is your preference will be fine. The 110 Extreme might be good for your needs, but, in my opinion, the benefit of the 160 Extreme is the extra 4 15watt LED's and if you upgrade to another tank in the future, having the 160 Extreme over the 110 Extreme might come in handy if the tank is even deeper or mainly SPS.

Hello from Germany,

i have the G2-170W over my tank. The tank is 40x22x22. The light is great. I started with a height of 10 inch over the water surface. The light was a bit to violet/red in my opinium. So i decrease the height to 6 inch. Better! Now i try two inch and it was much whiter. Except this i will change the eight violet LEDs to white LEDs. My light time is over all 10 hours. The first and last 30 minutes are only blue. What height is yours prefered height? How long is your light time? Im interrested in your experience.

thx
Andreas

I have my g2-160 about 8-10 inches above the water and I am about to replace 2 whites and to blues with 4 Cree XP-E Royal Blue.

This has been covered many times, all you have to do is scan/search the thread. It's not that we don't wanna help, but it get's old answering the same question multiple times a week.

Just one page back and right underneath you questions I stated, again, that the 110w and 160w units are good for an area about the size of a 2' cube, without optics. Seeing that you are only 20"W and 18"D, I wouldn't worry about those deminsions. The kicker is going to be the 7.5' length, you would need almost 4 of these units to cover the length. Depending on rockwork you might could get away with 3. The 110w might do, but you would be better off making sure you had enough light with the 160w units.

They do make a longer unit, but not sure what that area covers. It's the 32" 230w fixture, so I would think 2 of these would be fine, given the spread of the others. Just remember that with any of these fixtures you add optics and the spread is going to narrow so account for this in your configuration. Also some people don't mind some shade on the edges, and some rockwork allows for less coverage.

There is NO upgrade going on so the 110 extreme would be good for SPS(millis, acros) , clams (maxi on sandbed), LPS (goni, hammers, enchinos) ? Is there anyone that has a similar sized tank with a 110 on it?

Acrotrdco - you signature says your 160w has custom colors....do you mind me asking which LED's you replaced and with what color?

Your tank looks amazing....great video as well.
