May Meeting

I can't promise but I will try my best. I will have to knock my son out and drag him along because he rides to work with me.
 
Looks like a meeting in may is going to happen. This is great. IMO we only need two people to make a meeting official.

John, you have a son? this is the first I have heard of this. Cool.
 
i also wanted to remind everone that this is an open meeting to anyone interested in this hobby.
Members from ELMAR and NMOK are more than welcome to attend. Dual membership is not only tolerated, it is encouraged.

Please spread the word to others that may not know about this forum/meeting.
 
Justin, do you want us to bring anything? I was going to put a meeting agenda together, does anyone want to make some suggestions?

the wife is making cookies, and chips and salsa. I will have water and lemonade.
so if you want to bring anything else feel free. i may have a miller light or two in the fridge but that is it.

Hello Audrey , can we discuss the sponsorship section of the website (fees) I have been asked and not been able to respond , The Coral Reef is also interested in sponsorship.

I will bring a box of instant ocean salt (3/50 gallon bags) to raffle at the meeting or whatever is decided.
 
Thank you Daniel. I think putting sponsorship guidelines on the agenda for discussion is a great idea.

Unfortunately I will not be in attendance but I would like to suggest a couple of ideas to be put on the agenda for discussion.

-Would really like to look into setting aside a specific day of the month as an official day to hold meetings. I know that things change and we can make changes if the need arises, such as moving the day or possibly skipping a month. I feel that having a base day for meetings will help with ensuring that there is a monthly meeting, members can plan in advance, and ultimately just helps with organization.

-Would like to finalize guidelines for membership status and post this in the forum for potential members to see what it takes to fully participate in STARS such as voting privilages in elections and club movements. We have a base for this in our bylaws but we need to present it in our forum.

-The bylaws need to be signed and made official. Maybe a sticky at the top of the thread?

Anyways, just ideas for discussion, remember that we do need to put everything to a vote (7 founding members) before it is official.

Daniel, I think it is a great idea that we bring up the sponsorship at this meeting,

Anything that any member wants to discuss at any meeting only need be brought up before hand here on the forum, during the meeting or any member can call me at (575) 494 0481 if they would like to suggest something they want to see brought up during a meeting, and I will make sure it is put on the agenda. If I don't answer leave me a message and I will get back to you.

Jay you are correct the bylaws do need to be signed, I missed them in my email some how and have yet to get them printed and sign them. We will make sure that happens at the meeting.

Anyone that wishes to bring anything up for any meeting should always feel free to bring it up and post on the forum about it. If we don't all communicate, we will never know the things that people want to have go on for meetings.

Lets all have some fun and get things going one meeting and one thread at a time. I think we are all off to a great start to having a fun club and making some things happen.

When you all get bored with my long post's just tell me to be quiet. :wave:
 
I might be attending, I have a inland diamond wet band saw that could be use to demostrate how this thing works, I can take a very nice neon green favia that can be fragged and those frags can be giving away to people attending the meeting, also if people want to get something fragged please take it to the meeting this thing is very accurate in cutting corals.
 
Hello Arnie, that sounds like a great idea. I think we should make that a big part of the meeting if not the biggest part. I really hope you make it. It's so nice to have you post.
 
Great Hector. Try if you can but if not it is understandable. e cant all make every meeting, that is one reason we are going to try our best to have monthly meetings, so more people can attend in the long run.
 
i would like to see the band saw in action. i don't have anything that can be fragged like that but would be fun to see. I am assuming you will need a place to set up, or will be on the dining table. let me know
 
my wife is getting nervous. Can i get a count of the people who will possible be there? I can make sure i get enough chairs and such.

and don't worry if you don't chime in here, you are still more than welcome to show up and crash the party.
 
I am going to try my best to bail out early, I'm probably at a 50/50 and I guess I would count for two, my lady really wants to go too
 
O.K., I finally made my way over here. shows how much attention I was paying. I kept wondering why it seems more quiet than usual over on ELMAR. Guess I should read my PMs more often.

Hey Daniel, would you like to split the box of Instant Ocean and raffle one for the small meeting group? I was wondering if you would like me to draw up some raffle tickets for us to distribute to our fellow reefers who were not able to attend the meeting. Perhaps we could raffle the other two 50 gallon bags at the next meeting? We could include information on the raffle ticket about the STARS forum and website. Just a thought :)

Justin, do you want to name a tentative meeting end time? I'm sure that you don't everyone hanging around late at night to watch SNL or anything, right?

Another side note: the official, signed bilaws are displayed on the website so I don't think it is necessary for a sticky on the forum.
