May Meeting

well we have all of the tools that you have , the reason we want the table saw or the angle saw is that they cut straight as oppose to hand held saws. We want this stand to be as straight as possible. This / is not the same as this l . If you guys want and if we get the saws we need, then we can hold of on making the stand for the meeting, that would be a great demonstration.

Please tell me what and angle saw is. I can cut a straight line with a circular saw and can teach all the rest of you how to do it. I am sure there will be some kind of trim on the stand that would cover up any kind of little imperfections. You do not need a table saw to do the job. Erik, believe me my stand is straight and true and was built with the aforementioned tools. I can and will also bring a compound mitre saw if needed. I would not have a 300 gal on top of a stand that was not built as near perfect as it could be, that's for sure. A 300 in a room with a wood framed floor that is 2.5' above ground level, mind you. So not only is the stand good but so is the support I had to construct under the floor to support the 5000lbs. give or take a pound or two. Just saying the job can be done and done correctly with out the use of a table saw.

angle saw AKA Miter Saw, sorry John. well If you are up for it then we can have all of the wood ready for the meeting and you can give us a demonstration on how to do a stand, we are more than willing to learn

well i say stand or plumbing can be done as sort of a frag tank/tank informational build. plus with all the greatest minds in saltwater what can go wrong ???. but really, be really cool. man i have great ideas HAHA

I have a miter saw you are welcome to use. Unfortunately I will not be attending as my daughter's graduation is that weekend and we have family coming into town. But if someone wants to pick it up that would be fine.

Anyone!?!?! I am just luck to afford this one! Its no Craftsmen or Duwalt but it has some neat options and a nice high end blade for it. I believe it is 10''?

ok, the theme of the meeting will be "Frag Tank Stand Build"

Steffen and Ivan, can you please bring your tools to the meeting?

For the stand to be build during the meeting we need several 2X4 pieces and at least two sheets of 3/4 plywood. If any of you are willing to donate some of these materials that would be greatly apreciated.

If you have any questions or want to donate materials let myself or Andy know.
Andy will post his address once the meeting gets closer.

Whoa, if you are using 3/4" for the top and for shear/skinning, that is overkill and heavy!!! If you are building just the stand and run horizontal members across the top, you can get away w/1/2" ply. Also, if it is going to be skinned/"sheared" (industry term), all you need is 1/4". The stand I built was skinned out of 1/4" ply. That is it and that thing is a beast. The ply wood is used to keep the stand from shifting/rocking or pulling apart from the water movement as well as for aesthetics. Just trying to save someone/y'all $$$. Just my .02.

I would Like to talk about vodka dosing. How everything works with that. Needs and schedule.

vodka???...like the vodka you would mix with orange juice to make a screwdriver???...thats all i need is alchoholic fish...lol

Our president is the only one in the club that has done the vodka for a long time so he would be the only one that would be qualified to do that presentation.
