Maze Coral..... Sweepers

I purchased a nice sized maze coral earlier this week... its roughly 5 or 6 inches long about 3 inches wide, typical boulder head shaped. Tonight I was checking the tank and noticed that it had sent out sweepers... I had kept galaxia before and seen the length of those sweepers, but I had no idea these things put forth such long ones.. upwards of 4 or 5 inches themselves... well one was attached to a frogspawn about 4 inches apart. My question is this..

Is this a sign of distress, its normal behavior?? Its color seems fine, its not bleaching etc.. but if this is normal behavior, I may need to relocate it to the sand to avoid its stinging anything.

Also.. how potent are these buggers? I know hammers and torches etc carry potent stings, but I have no idea how potent this thing is.

Yeah I have huge sweepers on mine as well., They come out when my MH turn off. I think its very normal. My definately can give my Galaxia a run for their money in terms of length.

Well that is good to know... how about potency?? It got one polyp of my Frogspawn before I moved it further away.

Sorry I can't comment on that. I have mine pretty far from anything else. I do the same with my galaxia. If a coral has long sweepers it has them for a reason, so I try to play it safe and keep those two corals far from anything else. I would assue its quite potent if it managed to damage your frogspawn and not the other way around.
