Mazzei injector for the skimmer

Has anyone tried the mazzei injector on their skimmer yet? I just picked one up and I am open to any input pertaining to the integration with a skimmer.

It is a injector that is used to introduce gas or liquid into a jetted stream of fluid. So the hook up is that you run this bad boy in line with going to your skimmer and it introduces micro bubbles to the water passing through it and the design is based on Bernoulli's Principle. For questions on that you can check ou this site: http://home.earthlink.net/~mmc1919/venturi.html
Any how as the fluid exits this injector it flows over some guide vanes at the exit point causing a mixing action.

This is the web site for the injectors. You can see where the air is introduced to the injector from the pictures on their web site.

I would wonder if the bubbles would be fine enough. It might be interesting to try it with a needle wheel pump and see what the results are though.

I put a Kent venturi on my old berlin skimmer and it made a noticable difference. The inlet let in about twice as air as the original venturi on it.

Putting one of those on a needlewheel skimmer would be a waste of money IMO- Since venturis are put in the intake of the pump the water is pulled through the venturi as opposed to pushed through. In that you'd lose the benefits of that more expensive version....

For the order of hook up it will be your pump first, then the injector, and then the skimmer. But I like the idea of introducing before the pump to chop up the bubbles. To buy this particular injector I had to call Mazzei directly. Their web site is posted earlier in this thread. I have the 584c with 1/2 inch threads on both ends. As far as the pump goes I want to put a Mag 7 on it and see how it goes.

I think that it would be a waste of an expensive venturi to run it like that- Those are meant to have water pushed through them, not pulled. There is a difference in how it will perform between one and the other, trust me. If you're going to pull the air through, you may as well have made a $2 venturi cuz it would work just as well....I tried several different kinds in my multiple skimmer projects and those are the conclusions I came to...JMHO though...

Here is the address again, and they are out in Bakersfield, CA. The phone number is (661) 363 6500.

They have blueprints you can download.

And as far as were the air is introduced, well I took mine apart last night and it consist of a spring loaded ball valve. So this is not just a free flow of air being introduced.

I guess you could try the eductor method as well, But anyhow I appreciate all of the great feed back so far and think this will be helpful in this endevor. If anyone has more feed back please keep it coming.
