MB7 and fuges

are folks taking fuges offline as the mb7 brings down nutrients?

This is my first time using MB7, I'm 6 days in and my fuge is starting to die, cheato is turning white and I noticed more algae in the display today. My plan is to start vodka dosing but maybe I won't have to.

I did have a very small HA problem. In the past I used GFO, but that stuff is so expensive, so i figured grow cheato. But as in the past, it lasts for about a month and dwindles away to nothing. I've harvested it 4 times in the past month and 1/2. Now it seems to be turning white just like my HA. I've been getting a peach fuzz algae on my rocks, that won't seem to go away. That's why I started the MB7.

Is mb7 that good? even without a carbon source. I have noticed increased polyp extension in my SPS and the water does look clearer. I don't think I ever had any problems with water clarity, but man, the water is now super clear!
any other experiences with using just MB7?

I did follow the advise here: 2 weeks of MB7 every day and no vodka followed by a maintenance dosage (once a week) and daily vodka addition. I have almost non GHA and indeed having low nutrients my macros are not growing ( barley survive). I will probably let the cheto die slowly and just keep the 5 mangroves that I have.

It is normal for the fuge to get a hard time since your nit and phos are getting lower (no food).

hope it helps,
Marian

PS> keep the flow and skimmer up

that's the idea. Just wondering how fast it happens. I realize each system is different.
I may pull it all offline this weekend. Run a small amount of GFO and see what the tank looks like in a week.

First night I dosed MB7 I couldn't believe water clarity the next morning...I suspect you'll want to dose vodka in the near future to enhance bacteria uptake of phosphates especially...
