mb7

If you use it you have to us it with biofuel . It works great when used correctly. There are 2 sets of directions for ULNS and None ULNS . I would start with dosing half of what the bottle say for your gallon tank when first starting .

Not true, can be used on its own. Directions are on the bottle.

Yes its true been throw this. If your dosing vodka yes you can just use Mb7 . If you call brightwell thay will tell you you have to us the 2 togther to see good results. Mb7 is just a bacteria biofuel is a carbon source and the 2 must be used injunction with each other in order to balance out the bacteria. Doseing Mb7 alone is very bad and can crash your tank if not used with biofuel

Batt600) interesting....so how much biofuel or vodka should be dosed? and are you saying to only dose half of the recommended per/gal after the start up? How long have you been dosing mb7?

M007) What kind of experience have you had with dosing just the mb7? How long?

Thanks guys

I was dosing vodka MB7 but had some major problems. I now just dose MB7 weekly, I have not seen any changes since starting it. Dont know how well it works at reducing no3 with a carbon source.

I would disagree...I use mb7 with my biopellets and see great results. Never once used biofuel. Maybe I'm doomed for my tank to crash. If I stop dosing for 2 days straight cyano will appear seemingly overnight.

I think mb7 directions grossly have you dose WAYYYYYY to much. I'm down to about 8 drops a day my tank and this has found a happy medium in outcompeting cyano, but not hardening my substrate or getting the green filmy algae on my glass every 2 hours.

Yeah your using a carbon source theres no need for biofuel. You can us Mb7 with voka or pellets those are a carbon source.

I been using it for a long time but stoped . Now im using zeobac and start3 its much better then Mb7 & biofuel. You start with a low does and after 3 weeks you up the dose like 5ml and 5ml every week till your up to the dosing amount recommended .

+1 you can use it by itself like any other bacteria. I used it for over a year with out a carbon source. It just won't get the results of carbon dosing. It's not going to crash your tank.

Not a fan of the MB7, switched to ZEObac. I run Zeo/Eco BAk hybrid system and initially used MB7 to seed the pellets. I started getting brown slime, red cyano, and tuft of turf algae despite the tank being mature (1.5 years). I stopped using MB7 and started the Zeobac and have zero issues with any of those nuisance algaes since.
