In your opinion, which is better. Both are pretty much the same fish but with different looks. So which one looks better? It's up to you to decide in this poll.

Funny I was talking to a LFS recently about just these two fish as I'm thinking of adding one to my tank. She said every Mccosker's she has seen has better coloring than the Carpenter's, so I'm going with a McCosker's :D

If you put a McCosker's, Carpenter's and a Yellow Fin in a tank and told me I could only choose one I'd have to go Ennie, meanie, miney, moe.

I always thought there were the exact same fish, just from different regions. I've seen them both in the store and have a tough time telling the difference.

Carpenter is like Mccosker with an extra pointy long finnage instead of just 1. But Mccosker's color tend to be a bit more vibrant and rich in color than Carpenter, which is usually quite faded or has a yellow hue(atleast the ones I see in the LFS).

x2....I have both and the only real difference besides a slight color variation is that my Carpenters has three dorsel spikes as oppose to my McCoskers which has only one....

IMO an average looking mckoskers is nicer looking than an average looking carpenters, but a nice carpenters is every bit as stunning as a nice mckoskers.

Digging up old thread.
Yellowfin is absolutely stunning also. I have all three and I love all of them. They donโ€™t look the same but all beautiful.
