seriously... couple years worth of light bulbs can get me quite a few used Radions

I'm gonna start swapping slowly

Bah! Looks like I missed out. There must be phases as they decide what's worth moving or not because I specifically looked at both of these on day one. Good score though, those ICP ain't cheap!

I didn't even think of looking for those, but saw a post on the moonshiners FB group and instantly ordered two. They were $29ea, so I couldn't pass that up.

Just a word of caution on those ICP tests. I personally sent in a sample over a month ago and still have yet to hear anything from fauna marin. I haven't posted anything but currently there are a few threads on the r to r sponsor home page from people with similar experiences.

I only use ATI and when I'm in a pinch, I'll use Triton (as Unique is a ten minute drive from me). I've heard too many horror stories from the other vendors, that I will only use the two mentioned here.

Man that's some BS! Is that a FM specific icp then? I've always had decent luck with ATI's ICP. Usually about 10-14 days but it has gone closer to 3 weeks before. I was religious about them but haven't sent one off in a few months

I've been looking at the Gyre pumps for a minute. I Found the Maxspec XF330 bundle on the MD Liquidation sale list (what a pain that is) for $283.49, that's for 2 pumps and the controller. The XF350 bundle was $327.??
I just finished setting them up. What a deal that was and it was at my door in 25hrs, BRS has a hard time shipping in that amount of time.

Yeah I couldn't believe all my salt was here today, about 24 hours later. Gonna miss that for sure! BRS I'm lucky to get friday if I order monday.

Gyres are the best at indirect flow, they just take more cleanings to keep that flow rate up.

Yes. As far as i have read, its only fm icp. I agree with you that anytime i have used ati icp, its always been a positive experience and speedy service

I generally just dump my powerheads and pumps in a bucket with water and vinegar and let em run for a few hrs. You can't do this with the gyre pumps ?

Im sure that's fine. Im just saying you'll probably notice a drop off in flow in the gyres quicker than your other pumps between cleanings.

So this might be a dumb question, so MD was bought by BRS, is BRS keeping MD warehouses? or is this a buy and close and sayonara?

One of the other reefers showed me a couple of years ago that Gyres shouldn't need to be disassemble for cleaning. I just put them in a bath of pure vinegar (cheap kind from costco) for a few hours, then drop them into a bucket to power them on. That gets them really cleaned out and the flow back up.. a bit of scrubbing on the outside and it's back in service. Give it a try next time, and you will be surprise.

That's the biggest let down, they're not keeping any of the warehouses. They are picking up the AquaMaxx brand but that's it. No Spectrapure, as it would compete against their own RO/DI brand. So yes, sayonara!

Looks like the only warehouse MD had was in Garden Grove, if they own it. The 3 main warehouses they shipped from wasn't theirs, they rented space from those warehouses.

That's good to know. If i get a pair again I'll give that a go. I sold mine off after breaking down my 180g. I'll say they seem built to last, I was still running my xf150 that I bought preorder when they first came out.

I'm going all tunze on my upcoming build.

Buy your spectrapure direct. Support those guys, they are outstanding and in Arizona. Shipping is prompt.

Outstanding stuff. I bought one of their RO/DI units in 1998. It was pretty pricey back then, around $350.00. I'm still using it today. It's been my experience that they sell the best RO membranes..

I've purchased directly from them and MD, but MD was a little cheaper. So, I'll most likely purchase directly from them in the future.
