me vs. starboard

I'm thinking of converting my 125 gal to BB and I have a few questions about starboard. How bendy is it, if at all? I'd really hate the look a big seam in the middle of my tank floor, so if I do starboard I'd like it to be one piece. However, my tank is the standard 125 AGA with two center braces, so I think this would be a pretty impossible fit, right? If anyone has figured out a way around the seemingly (no pun intended!) inevitable seams, please share!

Thanks,
Nicole

The only wat would be to take off the trim if the braces are attatched to it. Why bother though? Just use some silicon down the seems of the starboard and eventually it'll all cover up with coriline.

Perhaps you could get a white reef-safe dye that you can use with super-glue? Or maybe there is a Weld-On created for joining HDPE (starboard) that will make a perfect seam? You could always use white silicone as well.

A friend of mine put a single piece of starboard in his 210. It is a 6 foot tank with 2 braces. It took some muscle, but it eventually went in. Starboard is more flexible than you might think.

NicoleRM,

you might try dascharisma idea, but careful

if you can't them why not, two long pieces and place the seam in the middle and cover with the rock structure,

and don't use silicone on it, it won't bonded to it, good luck with your project,

I tried to silicone mine, but after time it kind of just flaked off and stuff started getting trapped beneath. My suggestion is to rather plan out your rock design first and place the seam where you think it will be hidden most. I can't even see mine anymore after I've placed a few selected corals over it.

Never heard of that happening to anyone. Either way, if you add some silicone under the SB close to the edges, you should prevent that.
