mean clown

I know clowns can be mean when you get close to there home but in my 90 gal tank if I even put my hand in the tank at all he just attacks me so I have to put him in a net so I can put my hands in the tank I feel bad because people say that they get stressed but mine don't seem to care at all. Do I have an unusually mean one? I have had them in the past but never so mean does any body else have this problem?

Wearing a shiny watch kept my maroon from biting me, as she'd hit the watch instead, but before that she drew blood on me many times.
Many clowns get mean, some worse than others.

Maroons are the worst, but seems odd for a black ocellaris... All my ocellaris swim right up to my hand to be fed... Most of them take the food out omy hand. My maroons have drawn blood many times...

The watch trick is a great idea! My maroon never drew blood but sneak attacks caused me to drop a piece of rock once or twice. I miss it now :)

Yeah, mine made me break many corals w/ her surprise attacks that would always make me flinch and drop stuff.
And then some corals she broke just headbutting them.
A watch or shiny bracelet works like a charm.

I had a maroon clown for several years, she was always the queen of the tank. I tried several times to introduce a male, but she killed each one. Every time I went into the tank she drew blood.. Finally got fed up and traded her when she took out a good size chunk out of my knuckle ..my new false percula is a doll..

my black and white clowns were beasts. They really didn't like my hands in the tank, especially when they started pairing up.

my female true perc goes after me any time i even stand around the tank. she's like a shark, she just watches me and starts circling. anything that goes in the tank gets investigated. i do maintenance in there, but often have to just mentally prepare (and constantly remind myself that she's about to bite). if i let her bite and dont respond, she'll leave me be for a while. if i start kicking up a lot of dirt though, she really gets annoyed.

it's strange because this all started relatively recently. i used to put my hands in there all the time and they would both just swim away. i guess she's starting to reach maturity / going through "the change" and getting a bit more aggressive.

One thing i do to calm my maroons down sort of speak is when they start to attack my hand i open my hand up real fast and move it towards them like im gonna grab for them and they always run and hide under the anemone. But every once in awhile they catch me off guard which usally ends up in some broken corals...

my tank bred fake clown or whatever they sell at petco are VERY agressive at me if i stick my hand in the tank. i can hand feed them but id theres no food involved and i try to move somthing in the tank it will ram full speed at my hand, only the larger (female?) one does it the other smaller one stays back. one time i pulled my hand out so fast and it went for me it actually shot out the tank and i had to pick it up off the floor

i feel like a real pansy because i always flinch when it goes at me, i know it cant really hurt me but i cant help it it moves so fast i always react. if i have to move somthing i usually block my hand / move it into a corner with a net

My female ocellaris is in a tank by herself now because she has attacked and killed 5 tangs already. I put my hand in the tank and she immediately attacks me hand. She's been handed to a few reefers locally, we all call her the saber tooth clown.

If i go toward my clown slow she will kiss my hand but to fast and she bites my hand. Everyone has their own personality.

Yah, my big black/white ocellaris female will bit the crap outa me if I my movements are too fast or jerky. If I go slow, she just gives kisses.

i didn't know they could be that nasty , i'm used to get bitten , some of my snakes are pretty fast and a "bit" bigger , and i don't flinch because the cut would be more nasty and i could hurt them .
