Meat coral

I have recently picked up a meat coral. It was bleached out to start but has been slowly regaining a lot of its color. Everything i read is that they are relatively easy. Just keep them in lowish light and spot feed them every few days. The thing i didn't read was how much they expand and contract. "meaty" will double in size and retract with the light and last night when spot feeding he retracted then folded in on itself. he eventually returned to normal but i am concerned if this was a defense or just trying to trap food. Also when the lights go on initialy in the morning he looks like he might pop with how much he expands. Everything i'm told with saltwater is anything fast is generally bad and i'm new so its very possible i'm freaking out for no reason but just want a second opinion.

My brain coral does the major expanding to...I personally think its amazing! I wouldn't worry to much about it. The folding is trapping food and possibly cleaning itself off too

Yup its normal. Mine is always inflating, deflating, and catching food/folding. I think I panicked the first 20 times it deflated.
