Media for Calc Reactor

I just got a MRC Calc Reactor and I need to buy the media to go in it.

I am looking at the Argonite at DIY Reef

They also sell a course argonite that has 'double the surface area'

Is this the right media? Also, should I buy the regular argonite or the extra course argonite?

Thanks.

That should be fine. If remeber right you have to run at a different pH depending on what media you buy. JJ told me this so maybe he can clear that up.

Aren't you in the Des Moines area? There is a thread on GIRS for a local buy from Dr Fosters to share shipping. You can get that media from them as well.

that is correct, different media will dissolve at different ph, some media will require lower ph to dissolve most efficiently, some higher. I generally prefer higher ph dissolving media such as ARM so not to drive tank ph too low and consume less CO2.
