Medusa Worm

Anyone know anything about this critter? What it eats? Will it kill things? Etc?

Are you talking about a polychaete medusa worm or a cucumber meduca worm? Both are detritus feeders and both use their feeding tentacles to pick up food particles. The cucumber will process a lot more sand than the polychaete.

Apparenly the cucumber version. I wasn't aware of a polychaete medusa.

The ones at my LFS are about 6-10 inches long when stretched out and about 1/2 inch wide. They are a pretty brilliant red.

Any more info about it?

Rob Toonen has rather a good article out there on Medusa worms. I reckon if you google his name and medusa worm, you would come up with it.

Particle size will be important...obviously as the ingest particles, substrate like crushed coral would not work. As with any other echinoderm, water parameters must be pristine, with specific gravity around 1.025-1.026. It should be a mature tank, IMO at least a year (6 months minimum). They should not be put in with more aggressive fish or even things like sally lightfoot crabs.
