Meeting feedback

Ya, but when thinking of a move, you will always move it farther away from someone, so it is kinda like a lose-lose situation.
If you move it, it may be closer to you, but farther away for somebody else. I do admit though, it is fairly close to my house, and that makes it even better, but if it were to move to lets say somewhere farther away, I'd still do my best to make the meetings.
Its majority rule though, so i'lll be happy either way.

Yeah, meetings are great and that's why I started this thread, but feedback was a part of it too. casalt brings up some fresh perspective on meetings period.

I'm really for the concept of "every other meeting" is inconvenient for somebody. Fair, right? Better than every meeting is inconvenient for a good slice of membership. So what is the opinion of alternating if we can find a suitable location?.

I am personally against this idea. I would like all meetings to be in the same location. If we alternate between multiple locations, it was be a nightmare. Some people will show up to the wrong location. If we change venue - all meetings should be at the same place.

I agree with Minh. The move to a new meeting location would surely result in a few people showing up at the old meeting site and wondering where everybody went. It could be months before everyone remembers to go to the new location.

I would like to see the meeting closer to us folks out in Elk Grove though. Maybe in the Downtown area just off the hwy 50 corridor (between I-5 and 99). A central location would be most equitable for everyone.

Hmm, I hope that my comments weren't interpreted as being "hostile"; I only mentioned my impressions with regard to the board's attitude toward changing venues becomes it seems as though whenever this concept comes up it turns into a "if it ain't broke, why fix it" type of argument.

I may not have made the leap toward becoming a PAID member as of yet, but I have to say that one of the main reasons I have delayed doing so was the fact that I would not be able to attend the majority of the meetings/functions due to the current location.

I'll be the first to admit that the other obvious benefits of the club certainly justify the expense of becoming a member (something I definitely intend to take care of that in the near future)...I just wish that the location of the meetings was a little more "Sacramento" and a little less "Folsom".

After all, MARF just doesn't sound as appealing as club names go...

We're looking at holding our Chico Reef Club meetings at a Round Table Pizza but we don't have a dedicated room or a projector screen. The last meeting, we (~15+ people total) simply gathered in one corner of the place. Needless to say, we are envious of what MARS has for a meeting venue.

I've driven down from Chico so no more complaints about distance - Yes, I don't make most of the meetings but I go when I can. In fact, when I did live in Folsom I made it to about the same number of meetings. I'm just a busy person. The way I see it: if you want to go, you will go.

So the real problem comes if the 'free' venue is no longer big enough for the meetings. If it is a problem and continues then we'll have to decide on where to go then. But I haven't seen this to be a consistant problem.

As far as the name goes, Folsom does still belong to Sacramento County. So I say, we got that going for us.

I like the discussion for a different venue and please bring different options to the table if they qualify. But in some ways, you may not realize what you've got. (I never experienced the Carrow's mtgs. )

Who needs a projector screen, If Theres 4 walls to a room and if one of them is empty and plain that works also.

Im sure somewhere in sacramento there has to be a room. No one has put the effort really into looking IMO.

Pete has put out the best laid plan out to date. I saw GIO, I know some Steve's pizzas have some separate rooms, dont know how big.

Instead of driving everywhere, People could call and ask if they have a room that would hold 75 people or more.

I do know that the Hometown buffet on florin has a separate room and is very large, But I know some people dont like the all you can eat thing....

Also, that place we held the frag swap at last year had a nice sized room and awesome food

Probably could get some pricing special for the food for friday nights.
