Special thanks to those who braved the wind and snow to make this one of the best turn outs for winter. We saw a lot of rare coral again and had some great demos and ideas brought up. We are ready to get started on the next meet which will be at the end of March if all goes well. A real date will be hammered out and posted soon.

I will start a thread to discuss proposed ideas for next meet in a few days, let's relax a bit first shall we :)

One thing I want to do is get with Randy to document his "Magic Plate" and shoot a few frag demos to show.

Special tanks to all who volunteered their time and money to help us.

We need to get even more people involved so invite anyone you know who has any interest what so ever in this hobby. We will show them the way.

Great BIG Thanks to Barry for donating the Supper Skimmer, salt and test kits for prizes. Thanks to Jim for the Gift Certificate, we just wrote one up for you as we did not get one delivered in time :D (Your welcome) Seriously we appreciate the promotion and donations of our LFS Thanks!

If I missed anyone else or anything else I apologize, I am exhausted.

Thank you all and see you next time as we have much to plan for.

Ron

I agree this was probably the best meet in a long time. Perhaps for as far back to the days we met at the LFS.

It was nice to see such a good turn out for the meeting.

igotsalt. Let's get together and do the numbers that you and I were discussing. I have index cards made for everyone up until we started meeting at the funeral home. So we can add the few who do not have numbers. I also have some of the later ones as they have emailed me information and I have given them the next number. We have 108 official members but I saw a lot of new faces today. I'll pm you my phone numbers.

I'm glad I made it this time, but dang that drive home to Ky. was seriously treacherous. There was times traffic on 119 got down to 3 mph. Visibility due to snow was nearly zero. I could barely see the front of my truck. But it was worth the trip up, I won the skimmer and a bag of salt, oh yeah. I really needed them too.

I had a good time too. I got what I went for and god rid of what I took and got a few bonuses I wasn't expecting. So all in all a good go.

BTW Ron that piece I got from you already has it's polyps out waving in the wind.

The atmosphere was great!!! Best time I have ever had in a funeral home! :) Great demos to... I really appreciated the info, good job to everyone who put the effort into making this a great meeting.

My wife's car, after I installed a new thermostat in the freezing cold during a near-blizzard (and on a Subaru the thermostat is on the bottom end of the radiator so you have to drain and refill the cooling system to change it), only made it to the travel plaza 1/2 way between the 1st and 2nd toll booths (hole in the radiator). I'm going to get it at 5:30 AM tomorrow with my brother in law. I can't seem to get a break on swap days! Next time my friends, next time.

Ack, we've had vehicle problems too lately, Jason. Hope you make the next one.

I think hubby and I both got a chance to talk to you, Travis. Hadn't seen you for awhile. Good to see you.

J, glad you got home safely.

It was a wonderful meeting. Was happy to see so many there and many of them new faces. Hope we have as good or better turn out next time. I've already had a request for a demo but I'll talk about that in Ron's next post.

Thanks to all the volunteers who do so much to make the meetings what they are.

Good meeting! (good cookies)
Thanks everyone! (Lana!)

Ok, Jason....
You told us why you had to leave "early", but why were you LATE?

Todd, all I can say is... and I say this as a friend because I care-- and because I treasure our friendship and I'm glad you have been a part of my existence on this planet-- and I'm trying to be constructive here to further the caliber of our discourse on this thread.............BITE ME!!!!!!!

Seriously though, the best-laid plans always come to ruin! I was late because my replacement at work was running late and so I stuck around so my coworkers would not get slammed because of my absence and having to share the burden of being understaffed due to my absence.

I enjoyed meeting everyone. Great meeting. I thought everyone was very laid back, relaxed and helpful. That made for a nice atmosphere for a newcomer. I brought my parents too, and although they do not have a reef tank, they really enjoyed the event.

I bought 15 frags from various ones who had stuff for sale there. All seem to be doing well. Polyps are out, and seem to be adjusting good. EXCEPT the xenia that was free donated from the guy in Elkview. This was the xenia that was demo'd by ron on attaching it with wedding veil.

Ron attached a piece for me to a rock, but I think on the way home the rock crushed the xenia and the wedding veil cut into the body of the coral pretty bad. I included some pics of my reef in progress tank for those who have not seen it. and the last pic is of the xenia... think he will make it?

The xenia should survive, Rod. It was nice to meet you and your parents at the meeting. Hope to see y'all many times in the future. I'm going to try to implement your mothers suggestion at the next meeting...but that will be in another thread. BTW, your tank looks great!

Yup Lana, I did get to talk to you guys!

I forgot to say thanks to Roger for hosting the meeting. I wanted to thank him in person & congratulate him on his amazing tank on one end of the room, & the amazing TV on the other. :)

You cannot kill my Xenia. It and roaches will survive the apocolypse.

Sorry I had to run out and couldn't do the demo. I'm sure Ron did a fine job.
