Here is a list of things to be discussed at the March 26th meeting (Posted in advance for those that can not attend)
1. Create New Simple Bylaws
2. Remove the IT position as a board position back to a commettee chair post.
3. Reinstate Club dues back to the Original 20.00 Fee for the forseable future
4. Settle the online Voting Issue once and for all (So if this is Important to you Please attend the meeting)
5. Work on the Logo project
6. Vote on adding 2 more suction Cups so we can have a set of 4 at 2 locations.
I think these should be enough to keep it a lively meeting to say the least.

This is just a question not trying to start a problem more out of curiosity. I say that just not want to cause an argument on here. This pertains to the voting that will take place at this meeting. Should there not be a certain percentage of people that are paid members at the meeting in order for their to be voting on these things. Just a thought only 6 people show up, for what every reason, and the fate of the club is decided by those 6 people. Maybe something like 20 people that would be a third of the membership. Just a thought.

I don't think 20 people decided on the dues change or the IT position when the change was made to enact them.

I would like to see the Voting Issue Settled once and for all, But do we wait until hell freezes over to get every member present to settle this Issue? The Fact is there was never anything Voted on in the past other than the elections of a new board. The New Bylaws should be written to reflect this and settle it for good. I suggest If this is Important to you that you attend the meeting. And I am not going to argue with anyone on this forum. Any suggestions can be sent to me Via PM.
Bill

Well the IT and PR potion were voted at the meeting last February and I would say there were over 20 people there that voted. The dues you are right but when everyone was just talking about how much it cost to be in the club it seemed like the right thing to do. No one complained when it was done. At least not publicly. I agree with Bill that you cant wait until hell freezes over to deal with the voting so hopefully it will work out as a representation of the majority of the club members voice.

I dont understand this whole voting problem... If it's such a big deal then why dont you guys set up a poll on the MTRC site and vote on whatever issues you want there... Run the poll (voting) for a week and send and make a post about it here and if you guys have the option available send out a mass email to all the members letting them know to cast their vote about the issue...

The meeting can be for coming up with ideas and the website can be where the votes are placed...

Also just to be fair there never was much Voting on anything in the past, And any that was done sure wasn't done in advance or were members notified of any votes taken. This has only reared It's head since we took over and all of a sudden the old board is all about being democratic now! There were Major decisions made by the BOD that no one was ever told about until they were done. And that's what the board is elected to do, But now they want it both way's IME
Bill

Correct me if i'm wrong here, but i think the IT position is working on getting a voting thing done on our current site.

Mike, We have some changes to the Website coming soon, Please give Donny a chance to do his thing and you will like what we have planned.

I agree with you because honestly voting has NEVER really been done that much unless it's time to vote for a new BOD..

Sounds good Bill I know you mentioned before that a revamp to the webiste is FINALLY coming after years of members saying how much they disliked the current one so I am looking forward to that.

Part of the problem was that we never really had a process set up that worked for voting on issues. I am just trying to understand the process more than anything , not being democratic as you suggest. If all this gets a process in place and makes it better I am all for it.

Mike to answer your question about voting online they are wanting to get more involvement at meetings by eliminating the online voting. That is a good way to get more involvement and will be part of the new process, which will be in place after this next meeting.

Very good things laid out here that will benefit all in the end.

I had a sociology professor who was a really, really smart guy. He said something that really stuck with me.

"The world is run by those who show up". His name was Dr. Baker at WSCC and UT.

I think he said it primarily to boost class attendance  but it makes sense.

The thing to remember is that AS-IS, there is NO member voting other than the BOD elections in the by-laws, if I'm not mistaken. So this is actually giving a chance for input from the club. In the past (including when I served), the BOD made the decisions and that was that. And there still may be times when that needs to take place.

Looking forward to the meeting!

Great quote!

And you are 100% correct. BOD does all the voting internally and only with a split BOD do the members vote on the issue. And with the topics for the next meeting, well, there is no voting for the members to do, so if 2 or 70 members show up they are not going to vote.

Now if they show up to the meeting, they can have input on what changes the BOD makes or does for the next meeting :)

I know you understand this process Brandon, but just using your post as the quote since it was the correct response ;)
