Mega Flow tanks

No, Im getting the tank first. Once I get rid of the fish in the 20 and in the 36 ill be getting the tank. It may take awhile if they have to special order it for me.

.... Looks sweet. Sucks I can't go to the swap. Hopefully I can go to Jacks and make sure the 65 is a good size that I want. Haven't really looked around much yet.

Im going to have someone yet until im sure thats the size I want. If I do end up with wanting that size then yes, im sure I could drop off the money to one of you guys to pick it up for me.

Talked to my parents and I don't think they want to go to Cleveland so maybe ill have someone else pick it up for me.

Andrew,

Don't you already have several tanks? Where are you going to put all this stuff? Just curious.

Fred

Im getting rid of the smaller tanks. The reason im not happy with the 75 is because ive had several floods from the dumb U tube overflow, plus its kinda large and takes up alot of space in my room. So this 65 will be a AGA, RR, BB tank. After about the 5th time having the tank overflow, my parents started to get mad.

Andrew, IF....... you are SERIOUS that's a heck of a deal. Especially since I assume it has the standpipe kit with it. If I wasn't so far into the 90 I would buy it in a heartbeat and you would never get the chance... The 65 is exactly like a 90 except it's 3' long rather than 4'.
I have to agree with Fred from what it sounds like you should have enough tanks and livestock to open your own store.... What do you really have????

Andrew why do you keep having overflows??? I've been using the same u-tube overflow for 12-15 years and the only problems I ever had was when somebody messed around with the tube and stopped the siphon....

10 gallon, 20 qt, 36, 20L, 10 gallon FW, and 75 gallon. Its too many. Im going to see if PSP wants the damsel, clown, and two chromis I have. Then ill get rid of those 4 tanks. Then take the FW fish to the lfs ( FW one ) as well the tank. Then ill be left with the 75 and ill start to set up the 65 and use the same water and rock but im going BB and having black plexi glass or arylic for the bottom of the tank.

I have no idea how its stopping and getting air. Its been working for about a month now but I never keep it running when we leave the house. I would just drill the 75 but its tempered.

To keep an overflow working properly there are a few things to check...

1) Keep it clean. If algae grows in the u-tube than it will produce air bubbles and they will build up.

2) Keep the u-tube positioned so it doesn't suck up air bubbles when the water falls into the cup.

3) Run the proper amount of flow. Too little won't be able to flush air bubbles out of the u-tube. To much...sometimes more isn't better. If you're only running one pump and it is on the smaller side than you shouldn't run both u-tubes...only use one if it can handle the flow.

4) Stop using your sponge over the drain end in the outside cup. If it gets dirty and you forget it will put back pressure on the system and cause an overflow.

Hope this helps...these are common problems that you need to look at.

I'm willing to bet that to small of a return pump is whats causing your problem. Well that or you have a ton of loss in your return. I love it when people always try to blame the tank or overflow for problems like this :)

The pumps run around 400-500 gph and the overflow can handle up to 600 gph. My dad doesn't want to go to the swap so if someone would get it for me, I could give them the money to get it and some money for getting it for me. :)

Well I think you just found your problem.

What pump exactly is it? and if you're only running 1 pump rated at 400-500 gallons than just take one of the u-tubs out and your problem is solved.

I must be blind because I don't see where he said it has two U-tubes.
