mega flow

i have a 90 gallon with a mega flow on it. i was wondering what if anything you would put in the mega flow ? my brother is telling me his buddy has lava rock in mega flow to quite the water splashing, i just cant see putting lava rock in there. does anyone have any ideas or experiences with this?

Putting rock in there is not going to gain you all that much benefit. If you build your stand pipe high enough you shouldn't have that much drop spilling over the overflow. Thats just my opinion.

I completly agree with mike660r on this one. Just use a durso to cut down on the sound. If you wanted you could grow some macro algea in there if you wanted if you have the durso in there

Usualy most people dont put anything in there except a stand pipe. some already have a fuge in there sump so no need to put one in the megaflow. Sorry for not being much help.

Do you mean megaflow as in the drilled part of you tank or a MegaFlow sump that allglass makes?

Putting macro algea in there could plug your drain... I wouldn't advise that.

If it is a standard AGA megaflow it has a large bulkhead for the standpipe, and a smaller one for a return line.

I wouldn't fill the overflow box itself with anything. Give it time. The coolest most expensive fish you buy will call it home soon enough.
