Melanurus twice no luck

I just got my second Melanurus wrasse yesterday morning. I got one a few weeks ago and after acclimating it was fine for the first 2 days. Nobody chased it he seemed very happy then he just started hiding in a rock and breathing heavily. He was dead next morning. I looked him over and no scratches or anything that led me to think something as picking at him. He was the biggest fish in my tank. Tank mates 2 Bartlett Anthais, 2 clowns, Midas Blenny and 4 chromis. So yesterday morning I picked up another one and left the lights off and acclimated him all day in an acclimation box. Well he looked pretty bad the later it got and woke up to him dead again. I really like these fish but can't seem to keep them alive. Tank 75 with 29l sump, skimmer mp40.

salt level?

going up fast - stressful

going down - not so much

+ list how you check because if your using a plastic hydrometer could be way off

sand bed? if stressed they will seek refuge in the sand. mine hid for the first week. it is a stud and eats anything. hope you will find better luck with one. i love mine.

Yeah check it with retrofractor. Died in acclimation box. Mightve been in there too long. Deep sand never hid in it. Wondering if trying a third is a bad idea.

I would look into the source of where you are getting the fish as opposed to what you may or may not be doing wrong
