Hey, how's the the phyto culturing going? I stayed up way to late last night reading phyto techniques: woke up with a green brain today. Still using same MG and Kent's recipe?

I'm curious too...I'd like to get a Dragonface with my pair of Ocellaris clowns eventually, but am concerned the clowns will harass it.

Of course, it won't be in the 12g, but I'm planning on upgrading to a 20XH and then eventually setting up a much larger system, so perhaps one pipefish and two clowns would be able to last in a 20g for a couple of years?

Pipefish are like seahorses, in that they don't do well in a tank with fast-moving predators. So if you have fish that can swim and gulp up the food faster than the pipefish can, it may miss its meal.

Sometimes you can mix some livestock together. I know both Naka and Weatherson have kept pipefish in their reef for some time, so you might ask them about their experiences.

BC29 back panel is glass. there is a false back wall that is plastic.

I called Oceanic and they said it is not tempered, but they do not advise that a customer cut the glass and cutting the glass will void the warranty.

That said, I will be cutting the glass

those look like regular true percs to me... onyx have black. just because the parents are onyx doesnt mean their kids will be unfortunetly. sweet tank.

The Rose BTA came from a club member. He's the Rose Whisperer, and they split often in his tank. When he needed help wiring his canopy for lighting and fans, I went over to his home to get that done, and in exchange I got a pretty anemone. :inlove:

I agree with you about the clownfish. But they are <u>very</u> orange, which I like.

The sand is from Florida. It is aragonite based, and came from Treeman in a group buy.

Not a lot to report. I've had a diatom bloom on the sand for the past week or two, and I'm just waiting for that to clear up so I can take some decent pictures.

I'm trying to find 2 tiny ballbearings for the light kit hangers so the light can be hung from the ceiling. They are pretty tough to find. The ballbearings are a little smaller than 1/8". I went to a bike shop and what I needed was smaller than anything they've got. I may try a gun shop to see what size buckshot is sold in.

Try a hobby shop that has RC airplanes and cars. We use ball bearings that are pretty small.

That is such a cool idea on the drain. A gutter. What size pvc pipe is that and what size bit did you use to create the gutter?

The bulkhead is 1", and the PVC is 1" thinwall (used for sprinklers). The gap is about 1/2" wide, and the pipe is 6" long with a 1" cap on the end. Painted black to look nicer.
