The light is by Current USA, and it holds 4 blue LEDs. I've not posted a picture yet because they aren't affixed, and I need to come up with a solution still.

I'll post a couple of pictures of the component in the next day.

Sweet shots. Those do look like the night site deal in the last Reef Keeper.

Any suggestions for taking pictures of a fish that won't hold still? :p

Phil

Yeah, get a Nikon D70s. The faster shutter speed of a SLR is amazing. However, even a point and shoot works if you use the flash at a slight angle.

Or turn off the pumps for 15 minutes. The fish will become confused and unsure, and may stay more still, closer to the rockwork. Try to get a shot without the flash.

Or aim the camera at a spot the fish passes regularly. Put the camera on tripod, press the shutter halfway to focus on that spot, and wait for the fish to pass into the frame. Take the picture.

I've got a Nikon 5700, which is 1 step below an SLR. It Has pretty much the same functions as the D40 except without the ability to change lenses. The internal flash died a couple years ago, and I can't seem to get an add on flash to work. I did finally get a half way decent photo by upping the ISO to 400 and running the noise reduction on Paint several times. I'll try the stationary camera trick tonight.

As you can see from my avatar I replaced my Rainfords with a Springeri Pseudocromis and this guy won't hold still for an instant, even with the pumps off. Of course, that's part of what makes him so facinating to watch. :)

A few new pictures

A few new pictures

I'm not sure what was going on in my tank at the time, but for some reason all of the hermits were going vertical. ;)

Some acans, and a patch of cyano bacteria to spoil the shot.

I've not really been happy with how the Duncans look in this tank (which is the coral in the foreground), but looking at the picture, it doesn't seem unhappy.

And the clowns posed briefly.

Several corals are growing on the back wall thanks to the geniuses at aqua-mags.com

fantastic pics...

been following for quite while.. very nice setup

Last time I was in Switzerland, I told the waitress "Dank you" and just now that's what popped into my head again. (It was a bilingual goof of combining both Danke and Thank You.) I don't know how you guys can lurk so quietly in a thread. Either you have questions, solutions, or random thoughts like the rest of us. :D

I'm going to be posting some new pictures of this tank in the next couple of weeks. Just a quick update: I got a battery backup for the MP20 pump. That way if there is a power outage, circulation will continue until I can get that resolved.

Hey Melev Im currently in the plannin stages of my 58g Oceanic and was thinking of doing two overflows like you have done on this tank. My oceanic isnt a RR model. Its a much much older used tank. The bottom is tempered but the sides arent, so I figured the overflow design you used here would be a good plan. Are you satisfied with this design? Would you change anything? Would you reccommend it for my tank? Thanks for the info man

I would drill two holes in the back, and then use elbows and a straight length of pipe between the dual drains to 'gutter' the water to each one. The outside of each drain needs a stand pipe (like what you saw on Page 1 inside my closet) to allow air to vent in so the drains don't burp.
