Melting anemone

I have a Caribean condylactis anemone. The past couple of days it hasn't been looking that good; it let go of its anchor and sort of drifted around the corner of the tank. I just found it "face down" in the sand; when I righted it about half of the purple tentacle mass stuck to the sand - sort of a slimy purple ring. Is there anything I could/should do to help out the anemone or is it in the middle of a spectacular death that's about to wipe out the rest of my tank? Parameters are good (I may be able to post later but I'm in a hurry right now) and have been stable - no sudden changes. THANKS!

i would pull it out..it sounds like its on its way out and most likely will polute the rest of your tank...JMO..do you have any way to post pics??

Here's a photo:

The "ring" where it was face down is to the left. Does this help? Any second opinions?

Sadly I don't have a QT hospital tank or a good way to set one up. Do you think I need to scoop the "ring" off the sand as well?

i would say yes scoop the ring as well....best thing to do is to go to a LFS get a 10 gallon tank with light and a nano powerhead, do a small water change every day to keep water quality good and hope for the best....looking at $100 or less...i know it seems like alot but you will save more money by using a QT/hospital tank in the long run...so i would bite the bullet now(if you want to save the nem w/o risking the rest of your tank) or if he dose pollute your tank do large water changes and run as mich carbon as you can. just to be safe i would start running carbon now

I reluctantly scooped up the sand ring and the anemone late last night and disposed of them; I also started running some carbon as well. At least it's passing won't hurt anything else. Thanks for the advice.

really I would invest in a QT/hospital tank..I promise this is a step you will regret skipping at some point..I install and stock tanks on the side and most people that don't have one end up loosing most if not all of their live stock at some point...ask around poeple have plenty of disaster stories b/c of skipping QT...just think about it
