Melting Due To Heat

I guess I dont understand how so many people have problems with heat. Especially if you have AC. I live in a old drafty house with 2 window units on low all the time and my tank never gets even warm. I have a 75g with 2 metal hallide in a canopy that run for 14 hours a day with no fans or vents. The only trhing I can guess is that you are leaving your air on but the thermostat is too low. Turn the air up the I would rather pay alittle higher elec. bill than have things die in my tank. I live in IOwa where it has been around 90-95 with 100% humidity very hot but never once has my tank temp ever gone up.
Not to sound sarcastic, but do you rent? Where I live the 2 family house is an old construction from the late fifties with bad insulation and a cheap *** landlord. I live on the top floor, no tree shade and the sun glares down during the morning and evening; add to that the office type tile ceiling plus hot non-fan attic and you get the idea. The ceiling radiates serious heat well after the sun has gone down. To top it off the windows are too small to fit a 11,000 to 15,000 btu AC. There's an ac in each of the three rooms $$$$$.:(

LOL you are basically describing my house! My landlord is such a slumlord also. I think my Tank is worth more than the house I live in LOL. I guess I am just extremely lucky. In case your curiuos about your crappy landlord you should do some checking on codes for your state. I found so many violations when I looked I called the city inspector and they didnt even know my landlord was renting the house. They came out and gave them 2 months to fix the place up. A new paint job, sidewalk, window, tile floor and misc. other crap the only problem now is we had a massive flood and the city is being extremely slow on getting things reinspected. I live in Cedar Rapids Iowa if your curious as to what flood. Hope you can fix the problem.

i would really like to know how you do it..my main display tank is in the basement and im having heat issues also..fans do the trick though
