Hello all- question for you. I'm new to the hobby and not in st louis but st louis is the closest place for me to get anything i might need. i live in cape girardeau which is a little less than 1 1/2 hrs to get into st louis.

my question is this. would it be a good idea for me to join the club or not living here like i do

You're welcome to join. But read the by laws. You'll see fine print about how long you have to move to St. Louis. JK. I was a member when I lived in IL and thought it was a great benefit. Especially if you frequent one of the LFSs that give a slash discount

I've read the membership details and think its a great deal, i really do but was concerned with my distance and how others viewed that.

Distance does not matter. If you lived in Timbuktu and wanted to come hang with us in person or just in the forums, you'd be more than welcome. :D

Saint Louis "Area" Saltwater Hobbyists... I stress the "Area" Missouri/Illinois although we have several members from several states away.

Bottom line we are a big group of friends first with a common interest. When I say that I mean, once you start posting and get to know all the personalities. I'm positive you'll fit right in.

I'm surprised we haven't had anyone from Cape post in this thread already. I know there are several on our facebook fan page. Its starting to get cold outside and the fall swap is close. The forum will start hopping soon as more hobbyists get back in after their summer hiatus.

Didn't we get someone from pretty far away to join because he saw all our messed up post on "get new" and thought it was funny?

I live in Sikeston and have attended a few swaps when I was a member. I haven't been around much lately but will be joining again at the upcoming swap. Well worth the money.
