Menard - Congratulations on TOTM

Something about the coral's photo period, not worded correctly, but I've read that its about 4 hours. Turn the lights off for a short period, the corals exhale so to speak, then the lights go back on.
You get 2 light periods in a day, supposed to enhance growth and colors. Guess it does, huh?

Rod, Menard, Aiko and NewSchool- Thanks! I knew there had to be some Metallica fans out there!

Menard- So all of the halides are off at the same time in the mid-day cycle? Hows about the actinics? It sounds very interesting....

Fellas!!

Here........The best thing I can do to duplicate nature w/o having to spend tons of money for this gadgetry. Its cheap and effective.

I know Nature does not shines 8 - 10 hrs a day on the same spot over and over, w/ the prevailing winds , the position of the earth, high and low tides , clowds over the reef, plankton run , turbidity, U see all of this has impacts in their growth and coloration. would U imagine being under the sun for 8 hrs , you'll be cook, so its the same w/ any living things around us.

In our tanks lights stays in the same spot , period!! give your coral a break will U?
In my tank the min. one of the halide goes out the actinic comes on until the last halide comes back on then actinics off.:)
