A dealer got this anemone in and is saying it is a Mertensii. This is the only image they were able to provide. Is it really a Mertensii or gigantea?
Looks like a gig to me but a picture of the foot and mouth are essential for definitive ID.

My mert has purple verrucae.
if they are asking for a big price tag they are obligated to send along more pics. if they refuse then (if i were you) i will pass. just tell them you are a serious buyer and just want to confirm the ID as you dont want to end up with identical specie, any ligit and good dealer would send you more pic especially nowaday a pic is very easy to obtain, just snap and send through text.
ok at that price for the heck of it just snatch it and deal with ID later![]()
That is a tan anemone with posible light green. It is under very blue light there.
Another good way to tell the difference is tentacle length. Merts have longer tentacles around the mouth compared with their outer tentacles, while gig tentacles are more uniform.
I just found that picture on google images!! http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...CQ&tbm=isch&client=safari&ved=0CCkQMyghMCE4ZA
