mesenterial filaments from my mille

I retested my Ca and Alk tonight and found my Ca to be 380 and my alk to be 7.1 (both Salifert and I checked twice to make sure it wasn't a fluke). I might have an answer to my problem. Alk swings?

Low alk/ alk swing would definitely make it look stressed. The other corals are probably just used to it. Why the swing though? You are running dosers, right?

Ya, I am running dosers. I am not sure why there was such an imbalance. I will have to bump up the alk dosage I guess to hover around 8.

Aren't all corals accustomed to different conditions, before you put them in your tank?. Why don't I see this reaction when I add new corals?... If it was that, then I guess it's just a matter of waiting it out?....

Yes, they are. This is why its so much easier to start with captive raise frags. Even captive raised colonies will give you trouble sometimes, like in this case.

Matt, just try and slowing get your alk back to 8 and let things get back to normal. If problems persist after that you can take another direction with your approach.

7.1 is a nice alk...sea alk is around 6.5 dkh, I really don´t believe that this is related with your problem. In my experience swings in alkalinity will results in burned tips and stn (base to tips or tips to base).

I wanted to update on the mille for everyone. So, after testing my alk for a few days to see what the swing is, I was having a small .5 ppm swing, which I corrected for I believe. I don't think this was the problem, as that is not that much. I happened to be walking past the tank and noticed my possum wrasse was hovering below the mille and was about to strike. When it did, it grabbed a white blob off the bottom of the mille and spit it out in the water to eat it. I took the mille off the rock and gave it an iodine bath (this is all I have at the moment). About 5 flatworms came off the mille. There was no bit marks on the mille, so I am not sure if there were AEFW, but they were at least annoying the mille. I will update on how the colony recovers.
