Hello guys i have a 144 half circle oceanic.

I have a fixture of 48" with 2 250w ushio 20k metal halide and 4 t5 3 blue plus from ati and 1 purple plus from ati.

I also added a strip of rapid led royal blue on the front with 24 LED and one strip on the middle with royal blue too with 14 LED. that's a total of 38LED royal blue.

I have LPS corals.

Should i stay with the 20k metal. or should i get 14k or 10k to improve the grow in my LPS ? i was thinking of 14k since i have a lot of blue with the LED but no sure how it will look with 14k or 10K with all the blue that i have?

let me know what you guys think about it and which one is better for color and grow with the setup i have above thank you in advance.

Our vision as humans typically prefer the 20k as it is more blue, but you have a good bit of blue already. The Sun on the other hand is percieved by us closer to the 10-14k range. If you are going to stay with the LPS and do not need the 20k demanding corals like some sps and even a couple softies, it is really a matter of personal preferance at that point. I like the look of 20k, especially on brighter lps, of course sps, as the blue really makes certain colors glow, but it does offset the true way most fish should look.

I know that probably didnt help, sorry.

I have full spectrum LEDs that I custom ordered to as closely as possible replicate the sun's spectrum, then I added some 20k for that blue glow.lol

Good point it helped me out i added extra blue with the extra led strips so maybe with the 14k I will get better grow and still will have the 20k look since now with the blue LEDs its more than blue lol i will say its 25k lol

I run a 48" Cebu fixture running 2x250w 20k radiums 4x54w t5 ato purple plus and 48x 3w royal blues over my 150g 5x2x2 reef tank. Color is amazing but cost of my electricity bill with 1/3hp chiller running not so pretty. For the summer I ended up not running metal halides and swap out my t5 bulbs with 2x ati blue plus a purple Plus and coral plus. Gives me similar color as I'd I had my metal halides running before
