Don't you also need to make sure that the reflector and socket on the fixture can handle the higher wattage? Similar to a socket on a table lamp stating "maximum 60 watts" I'd assume the MH connectors would have a maximum rating.

Are you talking about a retrofit or are you looking to chop up a fixture?

It depends. DE bulbs you might need new fixtures. SE should be fine

400W DE sockets may be a little different then their 150 and 250W counterparts....so you may want to check into it.

Nope, MH sockets and reflectors are rated from 50w to 1000w.
