Metal or wood stand?

Hello all. I am in the planning stages on a 190 +/- gallon build. The tank is a custom LeeMar all glass, 60" long x 30" wide x 24" tall , 4 sides starfire, with eurobracing. Would you recommend a wood stand (using the plans here on RC) or metal?

I prefer the wood because I can do it myself, but I want to be sure it will be strong and reliable.

Oh, the tank will be going on the first floor of a house with a slab/concrete foundation.

Thanks!

Woody!!!, seriously -steel stands can be overkill- its the diy that makes your tank unique build it and the fish will come....:reading:

If I could redo my stand with out too much trouble I would build it out of
2"x3" rectangular tubing then have it powdercoated.

I am having a steel stand being built s we speak for my 300 gallon deep deminsion. The open access was the main reason. This allows a lot of equipment underneath the stand and helps in reducing heat. It will be powdercoated and undoubtedly over built.

No problems at all.
I just should have waited to build a steel stand, I think it looks alot better.
I was in a hurry to get this project done asap but I would've had to wait too long something like
3-4 weeks for delivery plus welding wasanother week or so, then another 2 week wait on powdercaoting, so I decided to build it in wood and it was cheaper.

All of my stands have been made out of wood including the one holding my current 180 gallon reef. I'm planning on using a wood stand for the 360 gallon tank that I'm setting up this spring too.
