I just picked up some metronidazole from fish pharmacy. It says to dose 1/4 tsp daily while doing 25% water change. Since I'm doing doing ttm, does anyone know if I can dose the full strength for 10 days or is that not necessary?
I don't mind doing so, but 100% water gets changed every 3 days with ttm, so I would have to estimate what concentration is in the water during that ttm.
Then it isn't a refresher dose but a full re-dosing because the medication will decompose within a day. The water change is to keep water quality up. I would do it as instructed even during TTM.
What are you treating and could it wait until after TTM?

Thanks. I didn't realize Metro breaks down that fast. I am treating for white stringy poo that didn't go away with prazi. I just did another dose right now and they are looking well, no more white strings already.

Following along. I got a pair of ocellaris clownfish a while ago. Put them through ttm while dosing prazi on the 2nd and 4th transfer. I then watched them for another 4 weeks while dosing prazi 2 more times every other week. Reason was the same, white stringy poo. I'd siphon the bottom of the tank with a small air hose after feeding to see if any colored poop should up at the end and it did. They still eat light but are also small.
Forward now in the DT and just yesterday I notice clear stringy poo on the female. It makes me wonder that what ThRoewer is saying might be true about the food. If not I'll be in a heap up to my elbows cause after all those rounds of prazi I'd have to qt ALL my fish.
I feed them pe mysis and caviar. On the last metro dose, I lost the sixline (though he hasn't been eating for some time) and both the red head wrasse and leopard wrasse stopped eating. I have discontinued using metro as of now and continuing the cp/ttm for now. White stringy poop is still there and I can't tell which fish it's coming from.
Does anyone know how metro is broken down (i.e. Skimmer, lighting)? I'm running just a power head and heater atm.
