mexican turbo grazer life span in tank

Hi,
I noticed most of my Mexican turbos are gone after about 8 months. I don't mean generic turbos like astreas, but the big round ones. My astreas mostly are all alive after a few years. Can my MG level of 1450-1500 be too high for them? Odd if it's not killing the other snails though (?) . I think the mex turbos can live a while normally b/c I had a range of 1" to some 2 1/2 in + in diameter (meaning they can get pretty old?).

I've read that most snails only live 1-2 years.

Also keep in mind that the Mexican turbo snails are not really tropical species, so keeping them in a tropical tank is not necessarily extending their lifespan. Add to that the fact that usually large adults are what you find in stores and you can count yourself lucky if you keep them for a year.
I managed to keep some for two years in a tank I kept on a more seasonal temperature profile (22-23°C in the winter and 25-27°C in the summer).

I was thinking theya re not tropical and that may have been part of it. I had some giant ones, scary big! . But I love them because they do eat bryopsis. I'll just get a bunch more

Given how large the Mexican turbo snails can get I would not be surprised for them to get that old with the right care.

I have some that have been in for a long time, golf ball sized when I got them and still about the same size. my tank gets up to 82/83 degrees in the summer.

These are the ones I have about the size of a golf ball.
Most are around 6 years but I still have a few that are pushing 8 years old. I even had a fire shrimp that made it 8 years. Not sure how long they even live.

The only snails that I have had luck with are banded trochus snails. They rarely fall off the glass and can usually right themselves. Some of mine are several years old. Turbos were usually dead in a few weeks.

I had no luck with the turbos. They were gone within a couple months.
