MH Bulb Change Question

I'm changing out my MH for the first time. I'm not able to raise the lamp up any higher. I run the current (10 month old bulb) 6 hours a day. I was going to cut it down to 4 hours a day for 2 weeks then bring it back up to 6? Yes/No?

What is, or do you think is, the purpose of this?

Im just not sure what you are looking to do.

I have 10 month old 250W MH bulb, I was going to replace with a new 250W MH bulb. One wouldn't acclimate the coral in any way? Raising the lamp up 6 inches or so, or bringing down the exposure time temporarily? Just screw in the new bulb and leave as is?

you should deff acclimate lighting... In my opinion, i would start with 2 hrs a day for a week and then go to 4 hrs for a week and then 6... If you dont acclimate lighting properly, you can and will bleach your corals.
