MH bulbs

I use the 250w on my reef.

Love the color and light output!! They could be just a tad more blue, but with a little actinic, it is perfect! I get great coral growth too!

The only thing is that I got two bad bulbs that went out within a month of use. After contacting the company, they are sending me two brand new bulbs!! So, the customer service is awesome! They actually have a one year guarantee on all bulbs that if the bulb goes out within a year of purchase (out....not dim), they will pro-rate a refund for you. In my case, after only a month they are giving me two new bulbs (as soon as they receive the old ones)

The Hamiltons are actually about 2 inches shorter than most other MH bulbs so if space is tight, it helps!

Hope this helps!

I have no experience with the Hamilton bulbs, but I did just get the Phoenix 14000k and love it so far. Its very bright and one of the bluer 14000k's. I'd look into it if you're looking for a bright bulb thats still got a nice blue hue.

I have used the hamilton 14k for about 2 years before i recently changed to a hamilton 20k. The 14k is a great light, but needs a hint of actinic. The 20k is perfect with no added actinics.

I used to use the hamilton 14k 175w...I switched to ushio's 14k because of lack of growth. The Hamilton's were much bluer that the ushio's but I couldn't deal with the lack of growth I was getting from my sps.

I'm a big fan of the hamilton 14K bulbs. They are broad spectrum bulbs with spikes in the 460NM range. Growth is still good, and the coloration of stony corals is fantastic.

They aren't the brightest bulbs.......but definitely in my top three

To be honest.......if you are looking for a blue tinted bulb, with some kick.....try the reeflux 12K....they are a bit brighter than the hamiltons, and a bit more blue

I run the hamilton 250w 14k for about 8mo. I like them kind of. too blue for me could handle better PAR. I am going to 10k after these go.

I was just over at jy544's house and I believe he is running 14k hamiltons. said he liked them a lot better than his last bulbs and things were really starting to color back up. maybe he will chime in.

We use them allot at seaworld. We currently have 7 of the 400W and 5 of the 1000W Hamiltons. The 14K color is nice if you like a blue tint and don't want or have actinics. They will start loosing intensity after 6 months (running long days) so we try to change them out soon after. I think we've had about 3 or 4 bulbs burn out within the first week of delivery. They will replace them free of charge if they are any problems. We are looking into other bulbs but it's hard to find 1000W bulbs for under $100.

The Georgia aquarium uses a combination of hamilton 14K and 6500K sun max bulbs

I have yet to find a 10K that keeps my corals colors popping.....even with a ton of supplemental actinic
