I'm finally breaking out of my four year power compact habit and just purchased a metal halide with pc actinics online (its not here yet)
on the website it says caution and not to touch the mh bulb, how am i gonna screw in the bulb then?

the fixture is a coralife aqualight elite 3x250 10k mogul screw in bulb, with 2x96 actinics

The reason is to prevent oils from your hand getting onto the bulb. Handle the bulb with a tissue or paper towel and you'll do fine. This applies to all mh bulbs. Good Success.

oh ok, so its not a safety hazard its just to keep my oils off of the bulb?
do the oils mess up the bulb or something?

i will use a paper towel :)

They can cause it to crack.

CoralBeautyII, MH get hot enough to give you instantaneous blisters for the most part. Any oils, or other materials on the bulb itself can be cause for concern.

I typically use a clean reef towel to screw mine in, and give it a good wipe down afterwards.
