MH Fixture on 30 inch wide tank

Hi!

I have a new tank on the way....8ft long, 30 inches tall, and 30 inches wide. I want to run MH or maybe a combination of MH and LED. Love 400 watt MH, except for the heat. What do you think about 3 or 4 250 watt Radiums (and T5 or LED supplement)? Any thoughts on Lumenbright or Hamilton Cayman fixtures?

Thanks!!

I have a 220g that is 24" wide and 30" tall. I am using 250w radiums in lumenbright mini reflectors. I power them with coralvue electronics ballast(adjustable) run in HQI mode. I am getting 180 par on the sand bed which is 2" thick. The bulbs are 13" above the waterline. I supplement with the reefbrite VHO blues. I am very happy with this combo.

If you are thinking lumenbright reflectors, you may want to consider the larger ones. 20" vs 16" on the minis. I can't speak to the Hamiltons, but their design is also nice. I believe it has a wider spread than the Lumenbrights, so may work well on a 30" wide.

We are thinking of upgrading to an 8' x 30" x 27". My arms are not 30" long :) so height will be shorter. I plan to add one more mini reflector and supplement with Reefbrite Led bues and T5. I do find the lumenbright reflectors lead to some coral shadowing that I want to reduce.
