MH heat danger?

I retrofitted my MH lights into an old PC fixture. The fixture came with an acrylic shield that would probably melt under my dual 175s, so I ordered a glass the same size that is an 8th of an inch thick...If I use it, do you think it would break from the heat? (There is fans in the PC fixture)

If the fans do a good job at cooling I dont think you should have a problem. The only concern would be if water gets splashed on the glass, then it can shatter or crack if hot enough.
How hot do yo think it gets witht he fans going? Just a guess, say luke warm, warm, hot.

I think glass can handle high temperatures just fine, unless as Blown346 said, water splashes on it. If you raise MH about a foot from water surface and don't have "jumpers" then it is highly unlikely you get a splash.
