I just installed an AGA 210 with hood and matching stand. I choose the coralife aquapro 72 inch mh light. Im having trouble with heat under the canopy. I called AG and they said I need to vent the top more. I'm just looking for the cheapest and quietest way to get air flow for the lights. 2 weeks with the lights and one igniter has already burned out. need help!!!

Try using CPU fans in the canopy and a small fan on your sump. That should help out quite a bit. Also, how high is the fixture off the top of the water? If you can, try raising it up a bit until you can get your heat problem under control.

my water isnt getting to hot. Its the lights. I need to vent the hood. Just dont know whats the best way. Coralife Aquapro lights have one internal fan with 4 vents on top and 2 on the ends. Just no room on the ends for a fan

Are you very handy? Buy some PC computer fans, install them in the hood and hook them up to a 12v wall wart.

cut holes in the end of the canopy and the top where the fans are in the light, maybe insall a fan in these holes if possible. holes in the sides shold be have one blowing in and one sucking out

Use blocks to allow air into bottom, cut vent holes in to to match light. Also check sides to be sure there is clearence. PC fans are a pain in the butt, it you use buy good ones.

if that doesnt work go down to walmart and buy some clip on fans and point them at your fixture. you can even do that if your not handy.

You can't find clip fans this time of year (at least in the midwest) but some of the online reef stores carry them.

the top of my canopy can be removed. this would make it like there is no top at all. I think Ill try this first and see what happens. Should lessen the heat.

Ideally canopies should have retrofit lighting systems instead of enclosed fixtures. Then you don't have the heat problems that fixtures give due to air vents being blocked.
