MH Pendant hight?

ok, I'm switching from a PC fixture to a MH 175w pendant. It's going over a 20gal nano that will contain sps and a few lps corals. What hight do you guys think I should keep it at? It's been a long time since I've used MH over a tank. Thanks for any and all advice.

Well, the first thing someone's going to ask is - what kind of pendant/reflector?

I run an Ice Cap Pendant about 8 or 9" from the water level. Most pendants would be fine at this level - but a couple will need to be a little higher.

I agree with Frank. generally speaking, somewhere between 8-12''. maybe start with 12 and see how your livestock reacts.
