MH question

I bought a used MH retro a while back but never used it. I just hooked everything up to test it. I get one brief flash of light in the bulb and then nothing.

Is it most likely that:

the ballast is bad?
The bulb is bad?
the bulb is the wrong type for the ballast?

supposedly, the ballast will run all types of bulbs

It is a BlueLineâ"žÂ¢ Electronic Metal Halide Ballast.

The bulb is:

Hamilton Tech MH 175W 14000K Blue

I also have a Coralife bulb that is obviously busted inside lol

I would have said "the bulb is the wrong type for the ballast", but if it's an electronic ballast it should power any bulb. You will probably need to find another bulb to try on the ballast to test it.

Take the bulb out and carefully clean the connector side (treaded side) with alcohol, avoid touching the glass side with your fingers, use a paper towel.
do the same with the socket connector, put the bulb back and try fire again, it should work.
