MH Question

Hi All. I was thinking of going with 2 - Icecap 250 MH Ballasts and 2 - reef optics 250W 14K bulbs and 2 - reef optics reflectors. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

size of tank? its critical to know since we need to know how much area you're going to be illuminating. SPS corals are quite challenging, and really require a mature set up at least a year old. since you're new to this make sure you do lots and thorough research before making decisions. crawl before you walk, etc. Patience counts for a lot. You'll save money by making sure you did the right thing the first time, and not kill off animals due to lack of knowledge. You've come to the right place, though. Wish I knew RC existed when I was starting out

I have a 110 Gal acrylic tank. RIght now i have 4-48" VHOs and i dont like them. Ive been researching this for about 2 months now. Ive been reading here on RC for that long, and i think there is no end to all the threads and posts here. LOL It seems like every where i turn on RC, i keep hearing about Icecap and Reef Optics.......so i think thats the setup im looking at putting together.

What are the dimensions?

Two 250 W MH fixtures with good bulbs, reflectors, and ballasts should provide a lot of light, and would be fine. I have a Lumen Max 2 pendant that I like. It's a newer product from the makers of the Reef Optix pendants. There's an equivalent product from Lumenarc, and some reflectors separately available as well.

Lots of animals would be happy with less light, and some 175 W bulbs would be fine, as well.
