MH upgrade

Hi. I am about to upgrade my tank and lights to a 120g with MH. I want the MHs to go into the hood of the tank but am concerned about the heat generated in an enclosed hood.
Is the heat a problem and if so how do you keep the temerature down. Also, how much space is required between the lights and surface of the water.
I will be running a chiller as well.

Also, any advice on how many MHs I need will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

make sure you put some fans in the canopy to exhaust the heat...one on each side

I have mine about 9" away from the water. If you are concerned about heat look into the Iwasaki 175w 15k bulbs. They are the best bulb available in the hobby IMO. I have had my new setup running for 2 days and the temp was at 79 day 1 without my fans running, I hooked up the fans and it dropped to 76. I plan on my temp increasing a couple of degrees when my new posiedon (my Iwaki is too loud) pump gets here so I should be good without a chiller.
