Hey guys,
I bought a used canopy for my 54 with a DIY 400w MH already installed. Set-up was working fine in it's old location, and the previous owner installed a brand new 12k bulb when I bought it, so it should be pretty much good to go.
The problem: the wire leads coming from the mogul socket are only about 4" long. The previous owner just had some twist connectors hooking the socket up to the ballast wiring. I'm less than confident in that set-up, since they were pretty much right above the water level in a tank that is not going to have glass tops.
Salt creep + electricity = not cool
I went out and bought some water proof butt connectors that they use for outdoor lighting and I plan to go a little crazy with the waterproof tape. Just wondering whether I'm missing a better option for sealing the wiring. Thoughts?
