Mhucasey's SPS obsession

MichaelW, you should be able to order it off Amazon.com and have it delivered to your door with Free Shipping.

Good idea! None left in Canada..

I was told that a shipment was sent to Amazon.ca about a week ago. We should see it soon I hope. I'm still waiting to order my first bucket - I missed out on the last batch!

Do you think the probiotic reef salt is an absolute must for this system. From what I hear it is a very high quality salt, but, not easily available locally for me and ordering online can be hard if it's a possible emergency situation (also it costs more than my current red sea blue bucket).
I know the salt has bacteria, aminos, vitamins etc but couldn't you dose a little extra of the other AF supplements to make up the difference?

You could use the Reef Salt if you're adding the other stuff:

Hm! Interesting. I'll keep an eye out. Mindy, let me know if you see it first and I'll do the same..

Mike, I think you ask a very valid question. But I don't really have an answer..

Ok, I knew it was a good possibility so I'm not terribly bummed, but Furiosa the Imperator Angelfish likes to pick on coral. Not sure any was damaged but the sampling had become almost constant, so I needed to catch her out.

Luckily I have plastic rocks, so I lifted them out of the tank and supported them on wood slats.

Then I caught her with my hand. She will go to the LFS tomorrow.

Put the rocks back in place and everything back to where it was. One broken coral and a few knocked off the rock and re-glued in place.
this was after completing re-assembly:

Oh men .... I wish that didn't happen....but ...

Well, it is what it is. Amazing you have that setup with those plastic rocks and at the end it wasn't a headache.

Now, is this going to make you rethink about the other angel(s) .

I feel bad because you loved that fish.

Best
Daniel

Oh bummer! I was hoping that was going to work out for you. At least you were able to catch him without too much trouble.

I wanted to give the Imperator a chance, but I knew there was a good chance it wouldn't work out. I will be getting the Blueface Angel for a test drive this weekend, but ill not get too attached. Oh and Dan, I love the fish, but I :inlove:LOVE:inlove: the corals more:P

Those plastic rocks are pretty awesome, And up close you cant even tell they are plastic!

Yes, but then i screwed up and it escaped into the flubber tank:headwalls: At least I don't have to rush to get it out. Ill try a fish trap there.

A couple odds and ends I wanted to pass along. First up, the Aquaforest supplements are all formulated to use the same dosing rate of one drop per 100L. Thats pretty smart. However, I had my doubts that one drop - or even seven drops of anything in 200 gallons of system volume would have any effect. Then I turned the lights on when dosing the Coral A(Aminos) and Coral V(Vitamins). One drop is VERY concentrated:

Second thing - we all have to glue or epoxy things down in the tank, and I've tried a whole bunch of brands of glue, with mixed results. Most are not thick enough and end up leaving a skin on the surface or they cure too fast underwater and don't stick well.

Well, no more. I discovered this stuff:

It is superior to every other glue I've tried by a mile. Better than Corafix Pro, or Ecotech, or anything you can get from the hardware store. It comes out of the tube the consistency of gel toothpaste, it doesn't separate in the water, and it sticks well and strong under water. The tube is 20 grams and it comes with a spare cap and tip. All that and its only 6.99 a tube!!!

That was the coolest thing seeing an entire reef hovering OVER the tank!
Very convenient.
So, you accidentally (on purpose) dropped him into the flubber tank...... Hm..

I just ordered my second bucket of AF probiotic salt. Amazon says only 12 left , so just in case I rather have a backup. Probably I will do that until the market is fully loaded with the product. I will not wait till the bucket is almost empty.

Mainly with this thread going on that is stimulating all of us to embrace the change! !!

Cheers
Daniel

Not trying to hijack this thread....but is it true that the Probiotic Reef Salt is $80 for a bucket that only makes 30 gallons of saltwater?

No, I put him in the eggcrate box in the flubber tank, and he found a small gap somewhere. Though if he ate a zoa or 50 I wont shed a tear:lmao:...so far he hasn't even sniffed an LPS or clam(or zoa for that matter)

Matt, the IC-gel glue is excellent! !!! , as you mentioned. I have been using it for the last 2 years. Always get 3 tubes from eBay. That is the one I used to do my ART work underwater , that Reefmutt (Matt) loves !!!!! .....LOL

Cheers
Daniel

Ps: Could be the angel do not like what you have in the flubber tank...... let see !!!

That'd be awesome if he leaves the flubber alone. That'd be a mistake that's meant to be. I'll have to try that glue out, not thrilled with what I've been using.

That glue is awesome, I wanted to get the word out! If the angel is relatively well behaved I'll leave her be. I don't care a whit for zoas so she can eat them all for all I care:)
