Micro Bubbles from skimmer...suggestions?

Ok, so I have a HOB skimmer on my 55 reef. I tried putting a filter pad on the return side of the skimmer, but that has failed after a week. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to stop or reduce the micro bubbles from getting into the tank. I have no other place to put the skimmer, so that is not an option. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

It is one that I bought from firehazzard. He bought that tank from the guy in Atlanta and parted everything out. It does not have a name on it at all. Here are a few pics if this helps. There is a tube in the center that can move up or down about an 1/8" if that matters.

And yes that is a Maxi Jet under the return from the skimmer. I have it forceing water up to meet the return which is causing fewer bubbles and is giving the tank a crazy flow that I really like. The corals seem to like it as well. It gives it the wave effect because the flow is crashing agianst the flow of my Koralia. Back on topic...do these pics help?

This is what kind of bubbles I was getting with out any modifications.

It should have an adjustment for air flow, try lowering the amount of air entering the skimmer. You might just have it running to hard, should have a valve or pinch type gizmo on the airline to the pump try lowering it.

I will need to install a valve like a "T" on the air line I guess. It only came with the pump and skimmer. There was no air line or air pump. I tried it without the air pump and it will not produce any foam. I know it takes time, but there is not enough of a ventrui I believe. I will try the valve and see what happens.
Thanks

There should be a place for an airline to connect to the pump, you should not need an air pump to operate the skimmer. the airline should connect to a venturi on the pump on the intake side of the pump. At the end of the airline you should have a valve to adjust the amount of air you want in the skimmer. Sounds like you were not given all the parts to this unit, unless It's a different type that I do not understand how It operates. Most skimmers work by drawing air into a pump via a venturi and into the skimmer body where they rise and collect particles and expel them from the water colum.

The dufus that set up the skimmer before I got it must have covered the venturi hole with the adaptor. I drilled a new hole in hte maxi jet for the air line, but it just does not seem to draw enough air without the pump. Firehazzard said there was an air pump in all of that stuff and that was went with the skimmer. IDK I am just tryin g to make sense of this mess.

Maybe an upgrade to one that has all the parts in working order is in your future! Not all skimmers are created equal!!!

I have a venturi for a seaclone that fits on the intake of an mj pump that you can have. I don't plan to use it ever again. It pretty much is a piece of junk (my personal opinion). But you are welcome to try to use it and if it works for you, Great! You can pick it up from me about anytime as I live in the boro also, or I can bring it to the meeting. Just let me know.

In fact you can have the whole thing (expect the mj pump) if you want.

Well I didn't want to say that but now that It's out in the open. Your right Norman It is a piece of junk, I agree. Sorry for your loss Ameares8 next time do some research b4 you buy.

Lol I do appreciate that Norman. I will get that from you. I think I still have your number from the last PM. It is a peice of junk, but it was Free! I can't complain about that. I bought some other stuff from him, so he threw it in there. I do need to upgrade, but funds are limited considering I am getting some new PH's from Commonstranger and a new RO/DI when this guy comes to get my Red Sea Max tomorrow.

I will give you a call Norman. Thanks guys.
