Micro bubbles in tank (Rio 450 gallon)

Hi Guys,

I'm posting on here in behalf of my in-laws. They have purchased a Rio 450 and have it set up with a protein skimmer which seems to be causing millions of micro bubbles.

They've had it for approximately 3 months. They have no live coral, only artificial, and artificial plants. They have some snails, a hermit crab, and a shrimp and salt water. (I've no idea if that is relevant)

They've tried searching online to figure out what to do to get rid of the micro bubbles; they have salt water and were told they needed a filter in the bottom of the skimmer, but are still getting bubbles.

I tried searching online for some solutions, and came across this site which seems to have tons of info, but unfortunately it's gobledegoop to me as I'm not a fish enthusiast; I'm kind of the technology interpreter. I said I would ask on here and try to help them out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll upload some pictures of the tank.

My first advice would be to determine if the skimmer is in the correct water depth, as each skimmed has a different depth requirement. If they are not in the proper depth they are nearly impossible to fine tune to prevent micro bubbles. Some cheap skimmers are also very difficult to tune to the point where micro bubbles can be eliminated. Sump configuration and bubble traps are also critical.

Also, if u can post the picture it would help. Other then what thegrun posted it’s hard to say anything else without more info. If u have trouble posting pictures u can link them directly from RC. U can link them thru the thumbnails when u post, it’s the thing that looks like a paperclip at the top of your message. U will have to post thru go advanced & not the post quick reply.
