Micro/min Brittle Stars

I have hunted and hunted in my LFS which arent very local at 85 miles away, but cannot find anyone that has these for commercial sale. Can anyone drop me a rope here? I really want some of these fascinating critters, but cant seem to find any at less than 3 bucks each... at that price, ya get a free mugging with every purchase.

anyone able/willing to help me out?

Whew, that is quite a distance for a local store!

I would suggest to find local reefers, local reef clubs, or check craigslist for people selling LR and PM them to see if they are willing to sell/trade you some LR with micro brittle stars in them. If you know anyone who keeps a fuge, you may find quite a few of them in the chaeto as well.

If you buy the LR for the stars, it may get pricey.

Hope that gives you some ideas and good luck.

Buy them from Indo Pacific Sea Farms. That's what I did to seed my DSB and they have reproduced quickly.

yea, i think if you only buy a few, they should reproduce fairly quickly if your tank is in good shape.

i started with 2 or three. i have too many to count at this point. i see little babies all the time.

Thanks for the input so far. I have not much luck finding folks near me doing anything similar. i have one person willing to send me some, but i have a question that is important...is there a way to force them off of live rock without killing them?

btw if anyone has an abundance of these they'd be willing to ship, i'd happily pay shipping. Im relatively new, so i dont have much cool to trade yet, but im working on it.

I was very serious about the shipping part. Im looking to collect a few of these and become a supplier for a couple LFS...they cant get em either, and offered to buy any i'd sell them.

$3 - $4 is nothing in this hobby. The amount you are going to pay for shipping these overnight is gonna cost you more than buying a few at $3 a pop.

seriously. I've bought nudibranchs at $10 - $15 a piece that were guaranteed to die as soon as they ate all the aiptasia in my tank.

some people pay $2000+ for one fish if it's rare enough.

buy them locally. buy 3 or 4 and thats it. $12-$16. i spend that in one week just buying food and supplements...

Many people start with dry rock and don't get the usual hitchikers, so they need to seed the tank with critters.

I've found them to be more common in thinner chaeto and not so much the thicker. Not sure why though. I average 5-10 of those little guys per chaeto batch. Hope this helps :)
